The bag-mask device allows rescuers to deliver oxygen-rich air directly into the lungs of the patient by squeezing the bag while ensuring a proper seal around the mask.

This device is particularly useful in situations where the patient is unable to breathe on their own, which directly correlates with scenarios likely encountered during advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) procedures.
